The central theme for Poncho Army’s art is the exploration of contrasts – between urban and rural spaces, internal and external realities, melancholy and joy and more recently the contrasts between left and right politics. She loves to capture youthful innocence, community and the environment. She often draws upon her experiences growing up in a shrinking rural landscape to gather inspiration for her work.
Poncho Army paints vibrant large scale murals and loves to combine screen printing with aerosol for her gallery works. She owns Anchors Aweigh Art Studio based in Wollongong where she offers screen printing services, creative workshops, graphic design, murals and art supplies.
In 2018 Trina started ‘Dissenters’, a collective that turns environmental and political artworks in to screen printed apparel and posters.
